Under 14’s – Grand Final Recap
The Under 14’s Grand Final had everything – tension, drama, and a nail-biting finish – with Broadbeach Robina emerging victorious by just 4 runs over Palm Beach Currumbin Gold.
Batting first, the Cats fought hard to reach 125 all out in 44.3 overs. Extras proved valuable, with 44 runs added alongside key contributions from Quinn Lynch (25), Matthew Jeffery (19) and Braydon Ash (14). Although wickets fell regularly, the team pushed the total to a defendable score.
In reply, Palm Beach Currumbin Gold looked threatening but were gradually reeled in by a disciplined Broadbeach bowling unit. Benjamin Goodman (3/23 off 9 overs) and Braydon Ash (3/18 off 7 overs) led the way, while Joshua Smith-Webb (2/19) and Matthew Jeffery (1/18) kept the pressure on. The fielders backed them superbly, holding crucial catches at key moments.
With the game on the line, Broadbeach held their nerve to dismiss Palm Beach for 121 in 49 overs, clinching the championship by the slimmest of margins.
It was a gutsy, all-team effort from the Under 14’s, showing resilience under pressure and delivering one of the most thrilling finishes of the season.
