Under 13 Division 1 – Grand Final Recap
Broadbeach Robina Blue produced a brilliant all-round display to claim the Under 13 Division 1 Premiership, chasing down Surfers Paradise to win the Grand Final by 5 wickets.
Surfers batted first and were restricted to 9/159 from 43.3 overs, with the Cats’ bowlers keeping things tight throughout. Charlie Harmelin (4/14 from 4.3 overs) was the standout, tearing through the middle order, while Zach Hayes (2/15 from 7 overs) and Jaden Davis (1/16) provided excellent support. Fielding was sharp too, with six catches and a run out highlighting the team’s discipline and energy.
Chasing 160 for victory, Broadbeach paced their innings beautifully, reaching 5/163 in 41 overs. Ky Newitt (53 retired not out) was the anchor, compiling a composed half-century. He was backed up by Connar Robson (25), Jaden Davis (21), and Lachlan Hinds (15), while Harmelin capped his outstanding game with a steady 15 not out* to help finish the job.
It was a true team effort — strong bowling, tidy fielding, and composed batting — that secured a memorable 5-wicket Grand Final victory and crowned Broadbeach Robina Blue as Division 1 Premiers.
