Under 13 Division 1 – Grand Final Recap
Broadbeach Robina pulled off another thrilling Grand Final victory, this time defending a modest total of 75 to claim an 18-run win over Palm Beach Currumbin Gold.
Batting first, the Cats battled hard against disciplined bowling to post 75 from 22 overs. Key contributions came from Jacob McCormick (20) and Jordan Hinkley (22), with extras adding a handy 13 runs to the total. While wickets fell regularly, those partnerships proved vital in setting a target.
In the field, Broadbeach Robina delivered a superb all-round bowling and fielding display to protect their total. Harshdeep Singh Chawla (2/7) led the way with the ball, supported by Matthew Jeffery (1/3), Braydon Ash (1/8), Liam Spinella (1/5) and Ryan Carey (1/7). The pressure was relentless, with economical spells across the attack and sharp fielding – including a run out – ensuring Palm Beach were restricted to 7/57.
It was a gutsy win for the Under 13s, proving that determination, teamwork and discipline can defend even the smallest of totals. The Cats’ juniors once again showed their fighting spirit on the biggest stage.
