Over 40s Division 1 Premiers!
Although the finals were unfortunately washed out by rain, Broadbeach Robina’s Over 40s Division 1 side were crowned Premiers for the 2021/22 season after finishing on top of the ladder. The Cats secured 5 wins from 8 matches, with just 2 losses, to cement their place as the standout team of the competition.
With the bat, it was the season of Steven Baker, who piled on 304 runs at an astonishing average of 101.33. Not only did he lead the team, but he also finished as the top run scorer across the entire Over 40s Division 1 competition, highlighting his dominance at the crease. Mark Stokes also contributed valuable runs, tallying 126 at 21, providing consistency through the middle order.
With the ball, Paul Azzopardi was unstoppable. He claimed 14 wickets at a miserly average of 7.64, regularly breaking partnerships and keeping opposition line-ups under constant pressure.
While the weather denied the side a Grand Final showdown, their dominance throughout the season ensured the Cats were deservedly crowned 2021/22 Premiers. It was a campaign built on batting class, bowling strength, and a united team effort.
