Over 40s Division 1 – Grand Final Recap
Broadbeach Robina are once again Over 40s Division 1 Premiers, clinching the title with a confident 7-wicket victory over Helensvale Pacific Pines at Neptune Homes Oval.
Helensvale batted first and were restricted to 9/175 from their 40 overs. The Cats’ bowlers shared the honours, with Shane Davis (3/25) leading the attack, well supported by Paul Azzopardi (2/15) and Shamus Robertson (2/25). Vince Serci (0/24 off 7 overs) kept things tight at one end, ensuring the run rate stayed under control. Backed by safe hands in the field and a sharp stumping, Broadbeach never let Helensvale break free.
Chasing 176 for victory, Broadbeach batted with composure and class. Steven Baker (50 retired not out) set the tone at the top, before partnerships from Shane Davis (30) and [Unnamed batter] (46) steered the innings forward. Late in the chase, Scott Robson (24 off 17 balls)* played a lively knock to seal the win in style, with Broady finishing at 3/178 in 38.5 overs.
It was a fitting Grand Final performance — disciplined with the ball, sharp in the field, and confident with the bat — as Broadbeach Robina secured another Over 40s Division 1 Premiership.
