Over 40s Division 1 – Grand Final Recap
Broadbeach Robina continued their proud Over 40s tradition, taking out the Division 1 Premiership with a composed 6-wicket victory over Logan Village at Neptune Homes Oval.
Logan Village batted first and worked their way to 9/162 from 40 overs, but the Cats’ bowlers kept things under control throughout. Shane Davis (4/29) was the standout, delivering a decisive spell through the middle overs, while Conan Sternberg (2/31) and Paul Azzopardi (1/17 off 7 overs) provided excellent support. Nathan Heywood and Scott Robson chipped in with wickets, backed by sharp catching across the field.
Chasing 163 for victory, Broadbeach Robina’s top order made sure of the result. Steven Baker (50 retired not out off 56 balls) and Scott Abercrombie (53 retired not out off 84 balls) both posted classy half-centuries, laying the foundation. Shane Davis (30 off 25) added valuable momentum, before the Cats comfortably passed the target at 4/163 in 34.5 overs.
It was a complete team effort — disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and controlled batting — that sealed a 6-wicket Grand Final triumph and another premiership title for Broadbeach Robina’s Over 40s Division 1 side.
