Broadbeach Cats Claim Division 1 Grand Final Glory
The mighty Broadbeach Robina Cats Fourth Grade side have written themselves into club history, clinching the Unity League Division 1 Grand Final with a thrilling four-wicket win over Palm Beach at South Oval.
A Tight Contest from the Start
Palm Beach batted first and were kept under constant pressure by a disciplined Cats bowling unit. Richard Kerr (3/25), Phillip Casper (3/17), and Joel Kennan (1/10) were relentless, picking up crucial wickets and never letting the opposition settle. With tight lines and sharp fielding, Palm Beach were bundled out for just 86 runs in 34.5 overs.
Chasing Under Pressure
While 87 looked gettable, finals cricket always brings nerves. Early wickets gave Palm Beach a sniff, but the Cats showed grit and determination. Vincent Serci anchored the innings with a calm and composed 23 not out, while Jamie Rowe played a crucial knock of 25 off 31 balls to steady the chase. Their partnership guided the Cats home, reaching 6/90 in the 26th over to seal the premiership.
