1st Grade – Kookaburra Cup Grand Final Recap
Broadbeach Robina capped off their season in perfect style, defeating Alberton Ormeau by 6 wickets at Bill Pippen Oval to claim the Kookaburra Cup Premiership.
Batting first, Alberton Ormeau were bundled out for just 118 in 48 overs, thanks to a devastating spell from Tom Scriven (6/46 off 22 overs). Scriven ripped through the middle order and never allowed the opposition to settle. He was well supported by Reece McDonald (2/60 from 19) and Jaden Davis (1/5) as the Cats’ bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings.
Chasing 119, Broady showed composure despite a few early hiccups. Ben O’Connell (25) and Tom Scriven (32) laid a solid foundation before Ryan Armstrong (20 not out)* and Steven Baker (27 not out)* guided the side home safely. The Cats finished on 4/119 from 62 overs, sealing a professional and controlled victory.
It was a fitting finale to the season — led by Scriven’s brilliant six-wicket haul with the ball and calm contributions across the batting order — as Broadbeach Robina lifted the 1st Grade Kookaburra Cup.
